  Here we are, a typical Friday night for my husband and I, our "Friday date night".  We are all warm and cozy on the couch.  Tonight it was my turn to pick something we have not already watched.  That is scary, the bad movie picker always becomes the brunt of a bad joke.  Lately, I have become the chosen one.  As a result, I have learned not to listen to my oldest son's recommendations.  He gets lots of pleasure leading me down REALLY bad movie paths, just to hear our crazy reactions.     This particular evening, I was in the mood for action mixed with science fiction.  Will Smith always seems to do a great job with that combination, so I picked Gemini Man .  The scene that got me thinking was the part where Henry (Will Smith) is talking to a younger version of himself, "Junior" (also Will Smith).  Henry is a retiring assassin that doesn't have a family or anyone close to him.  He explains to Junior not to make the s...

  "Happy are they that can hear their detractions and put them to mending."   -William Shakespeare        Who else but me would have a large carving pumpkin and three pie pumpkins at the end of the counter in January?  There are several excuses as to "why" those pumpkins are there; from photography backdrop to a healthy additive to my morning protein shake.  YUM!  My husband asked just the other day, "Can we PLEASE get these pumpkins off the counter and outside to feed the squirrels?".  That was a very clever tactic, I must admit. He knows how much I love animals.  However, the need to finish a video project was greater than the stomachs of the squirrels.  At least that was the reason flavor of the day.  It changes based on my mood.  "When will you finish the pumpkin project and do all the things you said you were going to do?" I began to ponder,  "How many things are there that were just left undone?" ...

Well, are we not? You know, just a little mucked up ? Yes, you can replace that word with what you think. To me it seems like everyone has a story to tell about their crazy family. Look at all the shows, “And the blame goes to...your screwed, otherwise known as mucked up , parenting". The shows that depict mucked up parenting seem to be popular and endless. My mom was a drug addict, my dad cheated on my mom then my mom tried to kill me in a lake, my mom tried to keep me at home by drugging me with dog medicine, my mother pushed me too hard and loves my sister more. These are all common themes from shows I have watched recently. Get my point? Anyhow, what is the turning point when you realize you are royally mucking up as a parent? What will be the red carpet mucked up parenting moment? Is it when you took the Xbox out of your kid's room during COVID? Is is when you started to let them in on life not being so perfect?
